I got IN!!!

I was accepted into the RN program here, FINALLY! Of course it was to the much further college, Sandhills but STILL I was accepted! I am still waiting to hear from Fayetteville Tech's program which is about 10 minutes from my home. That won't happen (finding out) until May. I am pretty confident that I will be accepted there too but you never know. My dilemma is this, Sandhills has a wonderful RN program and the people there are SO helpful. They call me at least once a month to make sure I am on track with where I need to be. They are VERY clear on the rules and regulations that go along with their program too. The only downfall is that Sandhills is 45 minutes to an hour away (depending on traffic). From the schedule that I remember viewing from last year, I would be traveling there about three days a week. At least it's not M-F but yikes, it is still a lot of gas being used driving back and forth.  Now, Fayetteville Tech (the first school I applied for the RN program this year) is the much closer college and they have a great success rate for their RN program but I have had nothing but difficulties with the people who work there. I have had to work my BUTT off to get to where I am right now. I waited about 6 months to FINALLY have all my classes transferred there and then a few more months later, the classes were posted on my transcripts. That was done after I had called, emailed, and went down and spoke to the "right" people. I applied for their program last year as well but my science classes that I already had, were not enough. Every other college that has a A.D.N. program (outside of NC) has higher, college level requirements that include Anatomy, Physiology, Chemistry, and Microbiology. I have ALL of those classes and Fayetteville Tech requires lower level Biology (high school level) along with high school level Algebra (which i do have from H.S.) as their prereqs. So, because of the H.S. biology for which I did not have because I decided to take a Marine Biology in H.S. I got screwed cheated out of being in category I which is the category that students would be chosen from ONLY for the A.D.N. program. Seriously, how messed up is that? So guess what class I took last Spring? Cell Biology for which I ACED because everything I ever learned in any of my college level science classes was a repeat in Cell Bio...DERRRR! So, here I am now, with every.single.class that this college could ever want from me for this program, waiting to hear if I have been accepted. If I am not accepted, than I will know that it is NOT the right school and Sandhills awaits me. =) That is the update for now and as soon as I find out more, I am sure to post another blog.

FINALLY!!!

So, I purchased bedroom furniture January 2010 and have had the worst luck with actually getting it all in. One year later and I FINALLY received all of my furniture...I AM SO EXCITED to have it. Take a look at how beautiful my bedroom set really is.

(I wrote this a few days ago and forgot to post)

We slept in, all four of us. The boys stayed home from school and Logan and I enjoyed the extra time suggling before we got up. This is precious time before he deploys. That man is my heart. =) So, I eventually got up and decided to make a HUGE breakfast (per Logans request) eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls...I told you it was big. We sat together talking as if there were no worries in the world. That's how it should be, the boys knew their daddy was leaving that day but we wanted to enjoy every last minute and not think about later that night, when we would say goodbye.

The rest of that day now seems like a blur up until we got in the car...

We started driving towards the XVIII Airborne Corps Headquarters, where I would watch my husband line up in formation after his name had been called off of the manifest, and feel like my heart was slowly being ripped out of my chest. The emotions were so raw so I'd rather show you pictures than try and describe the rest of that day.

I was so very thankful to have one of my good friends come with us and capture the Bixler family as a whole. Thank you Mrs. Shely. =)

YES, Monday I made the trip (only 45 minutes) to Sandhills and submitted my application for their RN program. I already applied to the much closer school back in October but I need to have a backup plan (just in case). Phew!! I know this year will be my year. I sure am glad I have a husband who cares about my happiness and goals for my education. We have been through SO much since he entered into the Army 7+ years ago. Anyway, I should be hearing from Sandhills by February/March timeframe. Fingers crossed peeps.  =)

PS- yeah, that's all I have for now. I have been spending all my time with the boys while daddy is away. I love being with them, Brennen and Connor are like the coolest little kids around!!
